While Pescara has its own airport, many of you may find Rome the most convenient option, followed by an approximately 2.5 hour drive to the hotel.
As Matteo is originally from the Abruzzo region, it always felt meaningful to celebrate here. Città Sant’Angelo is often described as one of the most romantic towns in Italy. It felt like a special place to gather and celebrate this moment together.
If you have time to explore, a walk through the historic centre of Città Sant’Angelo, the nearby town of Atri, or along the coast near Torre del Cerrano, a protected marine area, offer a beautiful sense of the surroundings. For those staying a little longer, the mountains of the Gran Sasso, the wild landscapes of Parco Nazionale della Maiella and Monte Amaro, as well as the coastline of the Costa dei Trabocchi, offer another side of Abruzzo.
The Transiberiana d’Abruzzo, also known as the “Transiberiana d’Italia”, is considered one of Italy’s most scenic railway journeys. Crossing the heart of the central Apennines, the historic Sulmona–Isernia railway passes through mountain landscapes, remote valleys, ancient villages, and breathtaking scenery that changes beautifully with the seasons.
Parco Nazionale della Maiella is known for its wild mountain landscapes, dense forests, and quiet villages, offering a more untouched side of Abruzzo. Often referred to as the “Mountain of the Mother”. At its heart rises Monte Amaro, one of the highest peaks of the Apennines, with panoramic views stretching towards the Adriatic coast.
The Costa dei Trabocchi is one of Abruzzo’s most distinctive stretches of coastline, known for its traditional wooden fishing structures built above the sea. Suspended between land and water, these historic trabocchi have become an iconic part of the region’s coastal identity. With quiet seaside villages, clear waters, and scenic coastal paths, the area offers a beautiful slower side of the Adriatic coast.
